A delegation from the International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation (IZSF) comprising Mr. Samrat Singh, Mrs. Mitra Rouhidehkordi, and Mrs. Farnoosh Shoorchehei visited India from January 18 to January 24, 2025. The visit was hosted in collaboration with the Zurkhaneh Sports & Koshti Federation India, aiming to promote Zurkhaneh & Pahlavani Wrestling in the country. During their visit, the delegation held significant meetings with representatives from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (India), the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The discussions focused on the future of Zurkhaneh and Koshti as traditional sports in India and explored ways to integrate them into the national sports structure.

A key highlight of the dialogue was the upcoming 7th Asian Zurkhaneh Sports & Koshti Pahlavani Championship, which is scheduled to be hosted in India. All parties expressed strong enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring its grand success. According to the Zurkhaneh Sports & Koshti Federation India, the meetings were highly productive and marked a major milestone in the journey of reviving and institutionalizing traditional wrestling in India. The Federation also assured that a national-level championship will soon be organized as a significant step forward. Our mission is to popularize Zurkhaneh & Koshti Pahlavani wrestling across India and work towards recognizing them as official national sports.
